Job summary

Reed is recruiting a Management Accountant for a public sector college in Newtownards. You will oversee the College's Finance Business Partner and supervise Accounts Receivable and Student Finance, leading the monthly management accounts and providing financial advice across the College.

Day-to-day: lead monthly management accounts, advise on budgets, develop cost allocation methods, maintain finance reports, assist in cash flow forecasting, and prepare annual budgets.

Qualifications

• Must be a fully qualified accountant and a current member of a recognized professional body such as Chartered Accountants Ireland, ICAEW, or similar.
• Minimum of two years' post-qualification experience in a large and complex organisation, with experience in management accounts and budgeting.
• Detailed knowledge of financial control and accounting systems, with ability to advise on financial matters at a senior level.
• Highly effective presentation and communication skills, capable of influencing a wide range of stakeholders.
• Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.

Responsibilities

• Lead the production of monthly management accounts.
• Provide advice on the management and control of internal budgets.
• Develop cost allocation methodologies to support profitability analysis and achieve planned margins.
• Maintain and develop finance reports, including writing new standard and ad hoc reports as required.
• Assist in cash flow forecasting and the preparation of statutory financial accounts.
• Prepare annual budgets for the College and individual departments, and provide analysis to assist with financial planning.
• Support budget holders and management in financial planning and forecasting for individual cost centres.
• Attend and support budget meetings, providing financial information and reports for ongoing financial planning.
• Develop policies and procedures for college budgets and forecasts, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
