Job summary

Vanrath is recruiting a Management Accountant for a Newtownards-based public sector educational institution. You will lead monthly management accounts, support financial planning and advise budget holders.

You will oversee budgeting at department and College level, ensure timely reporting, and line-manage the Finance Business Partner. The role demands a fully qualified accountant with strong IT and stakeholder skills.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant with membership of a recognised professional body.
• Minimum of two years' post-qualified experience in a large, complex organisation.
• Solid experience in management accounts preparation, budgeting and financial advising.
• Excellent IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication skills to influence senior and non-financial stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the production of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Advise budget holders on financial controls, performance, and forecasts.
• Develop and manage budgets at departmental and College level, supporting strategic financial planning.
• Oversee financial reporting, including ad hoc and standard reports, to support managerial decision-making.
• Line manage the College's Finance Business Partner and oversee key financial sections such as Accounts Receivable and Student Finance.
