Job summary

Carrington Blake Recruitment is seeking a Local Planning / Planning Policy Manager to lead Local Plan preparation and the planning policy framework. You will provide expert policy advice on major applications, coordinate evidence gathering, and guide the Local Plans team through complex, high-profile projects.

You will represent the Council at examinations and inquiries, engage with residents and developers, and deliver reports and briefings to elected members.

Qualifications

• Experience leading Local Plan preparation and planning policy projects.
• Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation and national policy.
• Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder planning programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation, review and implementation of the Local Plan and policy framework.
• Provide expert planning policy advice on major and complex applications.
• Coordinate research, evidence gathering and reporting for Local Plan.
• Manage Local Plans team including supervision and staff development.
• Represent the Council at Local Plan examinations, inquiries and hearings.
• Engage residents, developers and other stakeholders in policy development.
• Prepare council reports, briefings and recommendations for committees.
