Job summary

Three Rivers District Council is seeking an experienced Head of Waste and Environment Services to provide strategic leadership across waste collection, recycling, depot and fleet management, street cleansing and grounds maintenance.

You will shape policy, budgets and performance, manage contracts and risk, and partner with internal and external stakeholders to deliver service improvements and value for residents.

Qualifications

• Forward-thinking leader with strong track record in frontline operations (waste/environment)
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and major contracts
• Sound knowledge of legislative, commercial and regulatory issues in waste and environment

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for waste collection, recycling, depot and fleet management, street cleansing, grounds maintenance, environmental enforcement, bereavement services, and animal welfare and licensing
• Be the Council’s expert adviser on policy, investment and service improvement; shape budgets, contracts, risk, H&S and performance
• Lead teams, manage partnerships, secure external funding, and represent the Council in local, county, regional and national forums
• Drive continuous improvement, innovation, equality and sustainability across frontline services
