Job summary
Lancashire County Council is seeking a Strategic Lead – Highways Engineering to deliver a leading technical service across Lancashire’s highway network. You will provide expert advice and assurance on standards, major programmes and schemes to ensure safety, compliance and value.
This senior role requires a Civil Engineering degree, Chartered Engineer status or progress toward accreditation, and proven leadership in highways.
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status or progress towards accreditation.
- Significant senior leadership within highways, infrastructure or similar complex domains.
- Strong governance and assurance of engineering standards.
- The ability to manage complex risks balancing safety, compliance, affordability and value.
- Experience leading across major or complex highway projects and programmes.
- Knowledge of Network Management and Highways Development Control.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice and assurance on highway design, safety and standards.
- Lead development and application of engineering standards and assurance.
- Scrutinise complex designs, specifications and technical solutions.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and with developers/partners.
- Drive improvements to buildability and delivery across the lifecycle.
