Job summary

Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) seeks an experienced Registered Professional to lead Audiology transformation on a national scale. The role is a 0.5 WTE secondment (18.75 hours/week), part-time and flexible, open to NHS Wales professionals across healthcare science, AHP, nursing, midwifery and related fields.

The post focuses on leading a national audiology transformation programme through 2026/27.

Qualifications

Educated to Masters level.
Registered with the NMC/HCPC or healthcare science regulatory bodies.
Knowledge of healthcare regulation.
Project and/or Programme management office qualification (PRINCE2, MSP) or equivalent experience.
Developing business cases for projects including proven experience in writing business cases.
Managing successful programmes/projects at a senior level and ability to assess and evaluate programme/project outcomes.
Effective partnership working with healthcare organisations.
Knowledge of policies in Wales and the UK.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership, strategic planning and management of audiology transformation.
Work in a matrix management arrangement with the HEIW Associate Director of Healthcare Science Workforce Transformation.
Lead a national 11-month programme to deliver priority actions across workforce transformation.
Address acoustic variability by benchmarking and developing standardised ambient noise monitoring protocols.
Develop a national plan for improvement and a skills framework for the audiology workforce.
This secondment is for a fixed period and may extend or become permanent depending on funding.
