Potensis Selection are excited to partner with an award winning property developer who are looking to expand their team and recruit an additional Strategic Land Manager who will be responsible for identifying, negotiating, promoting, and acquiring residentially led sites.

You will play a key role in developing and implementing our Strategic Land Strategy. You will represent and promote the Strategic Land brand, building and maintaining strong relationships with agents, consultants, and landowners. The role involves sourcing new strategic land opportunities, undertaking site visits, and preparing planning and viability appraisals to assess potential acquisitions.

You will be responsible for negotiating and managing legal agreements, coordinating land assembly, and overcoming development challenges through collaboration with a range of stakeholders. The role also involves assisting with the planning process, from site promotion through local plans to securing planning permissions via applications or appeals.

Project management will be central to your success in this role. You will oversee the smooth progression of schemes from initial investigation and concept through to planning, ensuring that each is viable, buildable, and ready for regional delivery.

We are looking for someone with proven experience in strategic land ideally gained within a land promoter or strategic land team. You should be RICS or RTPI qualified and hold a relevant degree, such as Estate Management, Property Management, Rural Studies, or Planning and Development.

The successful candidate will be professional, organised, and analytical, with excellent communication skills and have the confidence to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.

To be successful in the role, we are looking for:

  • Familiar with all aspects of land purchase (maximization of offer, market research, technical, commercial disciplines) - sales, commercial, technical, design, legal aspects.
  • Ideally qualified to degree standard in a relevant subject, e.g. Planning, Property Surveying, Technical Engineering, and with membership of a Professional Institute.
  • Sound geographical knowledge of the area.
  • Able to work on own initiative, with the drive to take ownership of projects.
  • Articulate, clear and credible, and able to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to communicate with a wide range of people, engender rapport and trust, and develop and maintain key contacts.
  • Exceptional negotiating and influencing skills; a confident and professional networker.
  • An innovative thinker, with the drive to seek out and pursue potential development opportunities.
  • An established contact base of land owners, agents and promoters would be preferable
