Job summary

Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Head of Medical Workforce & Business to oversee the medical workforce and recruitment strategies, and to lead the Medical Workforce Team. The role collaborates closely with the Chief Medical Officer and Deputy Medical Directors on workforce planning, job planning, appraisal and revalidation.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant area.
• Senior managerial experience with Medical and Dental colleagues, ideally in a highly unionised operational environment.
• Significant NHS medical workforce experience and knowledge of workforce planning, job planning, appraisal and revalidation.
• Proven leadership of organisational change and ability to present Board papers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of the Trust's medical workforce and recruitment strategies.
• Provide professional and operational leadership to the Medical Workforce Team.
• Support the Chief Medical Officer and Deputy Medical Directors on workforce planning, job planning, appraisal and revalidation.
• Lead medical workforce business cases, workforce transformation projects and organisational change.
• Develop workforce solutions to improve recruitment, retention, productivity and wellbeing while reducing reliance on temporary staffing.
• Monitor and analyse workforce performance metrics and identify improvements.
• Prepare and present reports, business cases and board-level papers to senior leaders and governance forums.
• Lead the review and implementation of medical workforce policies in line with NHS standards and legislation.
• Build partnerships with clinical leaders, operational teams, universities, professional bodies and trade unions.
• Support medical education, research and innovation initiatives.
