Job summary

Coleg y Cymoedd partnered with Yolk Recruitment to appoint a Head of Estates. The role balances operational delivery with strategic planning to modernise maintenance and asset information across Nantgarw, Ystrad Mynach, Llwynypia and Aberdare campuses.

We seek an experienced leader with strong governance, data discipline and change management to drive PPM, CAFM adoption and long-term estate planning for staff and learners.

Qualifications

• Experience across a large, multi-site property portfolio.
• Degree-level qualification in estates and facilities management or equivalent.
• Professional qualification in facilities/estates management (IWFM Level 5+, RICS, BIFM, CIBSE, MCIOB).
• IOSH Managing Safely as a minimum; NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
• Experience planning and delivering PPM and reactive maintenance across multiple buildings.
• Experience using CAFM systems and improving estates data.
• Experience of budget management.
• Track record of contractor and supplier management.
• Experience of statutory compliance: fire safety, asbestos, legionella, gas, electrical, lift and CDM.
• Experience leading teams through change.

Responsibilities

• Develop and embed a structured Planned Preventative Maintenance approach across the estate.
• Improve CAFM use and asset data quality.
• Develop longer-term estate and asset management planning.
• Lead estates activity across a multi-site environment.
• Drive consistency in standards across all campuses.
• Manage estates budgets, contractors and suppliers.
• Contribute to procurement and investment decisions.
• Oversee and support capital projects and estates investment.
• Collaborate across the College to support staff and learners.
