Job summary

The Wales Office is seeking an experienced Communications Manager to develop and deliver strategic communications across Wales-focused priorities. Based in Cardiff or London, you will work with ministers, officials and external partners to shape messaging, manage media and drive audience impact.

You will lead on insight, evaluation and performance reporting, coordinating cross-departmental activity and supporting the Head of Communications in ministerial priorities.

Qualifications

• Experience in strategic government communications.
• Ability to build relationships with ministers, officials and external stakeholders.
• Proven track record in media relations and reputation management.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver long-term strategic communications across priority policy areas.
• Provide expert media handling and guidance for major announcements.
• Lead audience insight, evaluation, and performance reporting.
• Coordinate cross-departmental activity and stakeholder engagements.
• Support the Head of Communications in shaping policy messaging and ministerial priorities.
