Job summary

The client organisation is seeking a senior financial planning leader to drive the Medium-Term Financial Plan, coordinate annual budgets, and provide strategic advice to executives. You will influence key decisions, govern financial controls, and lead a team delivering robust reporting and governance across a large public sector entity.

You will partner with senior leaders to support transformation programmes, ensure financial sustainability, and represent the organisation at governance forums

Qualifications

• Strong experience in financial planning, budgeting and financial management.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• Experience operating at a senior level advising executive leaders.
• A thorough understanding of governance, statutory reporting and financial controls.
• The ability to lead teams, drive performance and develop talent.
• Commercial acumen with experience supporting transformation, change and investment decisions.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data clearly.
• A proactive, solution-focused approach navigating complex environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and maintenance of the Medium-Term Financial Plan.
• Coordinate and oversee the annual budget setting process.
• Provide strategic financial advice to senior executives and stakeholders.
• Support robust financial governance and effective decision-making.
• Manage and develop the financial planning and business partnering team.
• Monitor reserves, provisions and corporate budgets.
• Lead statutory and government financial returns with accuracy and compliance.
• Contribute to transformation programmes, business cases and strategic projects.
• Prepare high-profile financial reports for senior leadership and governance forums.
• Deputise for senior finance leaders and represent the organisation externally.
