Job summary

Michael Page is recruiting for a senior financial planning leader to drive the medium-term financial plan and annual budget process within a large public sector organisation.

You will partner with senior leaders to provide expert financial insight, shape transformation initiatives, and influence key organisational decisions, while leading a team and ensuring robust governance and reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience in financial planning, budgeting, and financial management.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• Experience advising at senior/executive level.
• Understanding governance, statutory reporting, and financial controls.
• Ability to lead teams and develop talent.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and maintenance of the organisation's Medium-Term Financial Plan.
• Coordinate and oversee the annual budget setting process.
• Provide strategic financial advice to senior executives, leadership teams, and key stakeholders.
• Support robust financial governance and effective decision‑making across the organisation.
• Manage and develop members of the financial planning and business partnering team.
• Monitor key financial resources including reserves, provisions, and corporate budgets.
• Lead statutory and government financial returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Contribute to major transformation programmes, business cases, and strategic projects.
• Prepare high‑profile financial reports for senior leadership and governance forums.
• Deputise for senior finance leadership when required and represent the organisation at key meetings and external networks.
