Job summary

Bestway Group is seeking a Category Manager to deliver Category Plans that maximise sales and profit for Bestway Retail and our retailers. The role covers ranging, pricing, strategy development, supplier management, and promotional planning, with mentoring of Category Assistants.

You will lead the creation and delivery of category strategies, oversee joint business plans with suppliers, and ensure organisational budgets are met while driving profitable growth across categories.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in FMCG Wholesale or Retail sector (Buying Sales or Category Management).
• The ability to confidently demonstrate tenacity, determination, and assertiveness in pursuit of a commercially successful outcome.

Responsibilities

• Ensure activities and decisions support budget delivery for sales, wholesale margin and cash profit.
• Maximise product availability across categories through sound commercial reasoning.
• Work with suppliers to generate Joint Business Plans and manage stakeholder relationships.
• Create and implement Category strategy and plans to meet financial targets.
• Negotiate income from suppliers for media promotions and initiatives.
• Ranging and pricing aligned with pricing policy and business strategy.
• Plan seasonal promotions and communicate requirements across supply base and internal departments.
• Range management and development, identifying gaps and reviewing current status.
• Define and manage Own Brand strategy for a balanced category portfolio.
• Ensure admin tasks are completed accurately and on time.
• Analyse promotional effectiveness and forecasts for product categories.
