Job summary

Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) in Liverpool is seeking an Employee Relations Lead to oversee end-to-end ER case management across the organisation, partnering with managers to resolve issues early and effectively.

You will act as ER SME, shaping policies, reporting, and HRIS integration, while ensuring compliance with UK employment law and regulatory guidance. This fixed-term hybrid role offers autonomy and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and ER best practice.
• Proven experience managing complex ER casework end-to-end.
• Excellent coaching and influencing skills.
• Analytical mindset with experience in reporting.
• Experience advising within regulated environments (e.g., FCA).

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end management of all formal ER cases (disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance).
• Support HRBPs with organisational change activity.
• Coach managers to resolve issues early with informal approaches.
• Develop and maintain ER policies, templates, and guidance materials.
• Provide data-driven ER insights and reporting for leadership.
