Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Design & Engineering Lead to provide strategic leadership and accountability for engineering, design, and technical governance across the Area 5 network, including the M25 and associated trunk roads.

You will define and execute the engineering strategy to support safe, compliant, and sustainable asset management and drive innovation and design assurance across multiple portfolios.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the engineering and design strategy for the National Highways Area 5 network.
• Provide leadership to multidisciplinary teams and drive a culture of excellence and accountability.
• Act as senior technical authority for governance, assurance and compliance across disciplines.
• Ensure safe and compliant delivery of design activities while meeting objectives.
• Lead resource planning and prioritisation across programmes and funding streams.
• Drive continuous improvement through digital transformation and emerging tech.
