Job summary

MaPS is seeking a senior leader to head the Data & Insights function, shaping strategy for reporting, analytics and performance management across the National Pensions Connection Service. You will establish a single source of trusted performance information and influence senior decisions with data-driven insights.

You will collaborate with Data Engineering, Product and Architecture teams to embed reporting into data products, while fostering self-service analytics and robust governance.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading data, analytics, business intelligence or insight functions within large, complex organisations, with responsibility for setting strategy, priorities and operating models.
• Strong understanding of data governance, including data quality management, data standards, metadata, lineage, information management, reporting controls and regulatory compliance.
• Proven technical experience delivering analytics and reporting solutions using a range of tools and technologies such as Power BI, AWS QuickSight, Tableau, SQL, Python, Databricks or equivalent platforms.
• Demonstrable ability to translate complex data and technical information into clear, compelling and actionable insights for senior leaders, regulators and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary analytical teams and collaborating effectively across product, engineering, operations and external delivery partners to drive evidence-based decision making and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

• Lead the Data & Insights function for the National Pensions Connection Service, providing strategic direction for reporting, analytics, monitoring and performance management.
• Develop and communicate a clear vision for how data and insight will support operational performance, service improvement and long-term strategic objectives.
• Establish and maintain a single, trusted source of performance information across the pensions dashboards ecosystem.
• Lead the production of executive reporting, performance insights and data-driven recommendations for senior leadership, governance boards and external stakeholders.
• Ensure the service maintains robust data governance practices, including data quality management, metadata standards, reporting controls, auditability and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Oversee relationships with regulators and government stakeholders, supporting reporting obligations and the provision of accurate, timely and transparent information.
• Work closely with Data Engineering, Product and Architecture teams to ensure reporting and analytical requirements are incorporated into data products and platforms.
• Lead the development of self-service reporting capabilities that enable users to access trusted information without reliance on bespoke analysis.
• Oversee benefits realisation measurement and performance evaluation, ensuring the service can demonstrate outcomes and value delivered over time.
• Manage and develop a multidisciplinary matrix team of analysts and insight professionals, providing coaching, mentoring and professional leadership.
• Promote a culture of evidence-based decision making, continuous improvement and data literacy across the service and wider organisation.
• Ensure monitoring, operational intelligence and analytical capabilities evolve alongside service growth and increasing transaction volumes.
