Job summary
Maritime and Coastguard Agency is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to define business needs and analytical requirements within a programme delivering analytical products and curated datasets for high‑quality insight and decision‑making. You will work with the Data Insights & Analytics team to shape analytics that support the organisation.
Based in Cardiff/Southampton with hybrid working, you will lead business problem framing, collaborate with analysts, validate logic with SMEs and drive value
Qualifications
- Applied knowledge of business analysis methods including requirements elicitation and process mapping.
- Experience with Agile ways of working and delivery tooling such as DevOps.
- Experience working with data, metrics or analytical products and collaboration with analysts to translate needs into analytical requirements.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to senior non-technical stakeholders.
- Assess benefits and inform prioritisation of analytical work for value.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure analytics meet business needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead the definition and framing of business problems and translate needs into structured analytical requirements, rules and success measures.
- Partner with Data Analysts to ensure feasibility and alignment with analytics best practice.
- Engage subject matter experts to validate logic and constraints for trusted context.
- Iterate using Agile methods, refining requirements and delivering incremental insight with stakeholders.
- Collaborate with IT and other stakeholders to smooth release and handover of analytical products.
