Job summary

CIEEM Scotland Policy Group seeks an experienced ecologist to advise the County Council on ecology, biodiversity, Biodiversity Net Gain and nature recovery across a broad portfolio of projects. You will help integrate environmental considerations into decision-making and support planning and infrastructure delivery across West Sussex.

You will lead professional ecological advice, collaborate with partners, supervise specialists where appropriate, and contribute to Local Nature Recovery Strategy

Qualifications

• Extensive ecological knowledge and professional judgement in ecology and biodiversity.
• Ability to evaluate evidence and provide robust, proportionate ecological advice.
• Experience collaborating with councils, developers, consultants and partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert ecological advice to the County Council and support planning processes.
• Help deliver nature recovery and Biodiversity Net Gain across projects.
• Represent the council in meetings and provide guidance and mentoring to staff.
