Job summary

Huntingdonshire District Council is seeking an Ecology Officer to join our Development Management team. You will provide specialist ecological advice on biodiversity and nature conservation to support planning decisions and sustainable growth across the district.

You will assess applications, contribute to policy development, and assist with Habitat Regulations Assessments, Biodiversity Net Gain projects, and environmental legislation compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree in ecology, biology, landscape or related discipline.
• Membership of, or commitment to, professional body.
• Experience in ecology and biodiversity with understanding of planning system and environmental legislation.
• Strong communication and professional judgement.

Responsibilities

• Assess planning applications for ecological issues and biodiversity considerations.
• Contribute to policy development and support Biodiversity Net Gain initiatives.
• Assist Habitat Regulations Assessments, planning appeals and environmental compliance.
• Collaborate with planning teams, developers, consultants and external stakeholders.
