Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Commercial Manager for its Devonport Royal Dockyard site. The role is full-time with hybrid working (3 days in the office, 2 days at home) and involves managing large-scale, complex construction contracts in a regulated defence context.

You’ll lead governance, risk management and NEC4 negotiations, coordinating with senior stakeholders to deliver compliant, on-time outcomes. Security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in Quantity Surveying, Business, Law, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience.
• World Commerce and Contracting (WCC) or MCIPS qualifications - Desirable

Responsibilities

• Provide commercial governance for tenders, contract reviews, change control and risk management across complex infrastructure programmes.
• Prepare and validate cost estimates, budgets, forecasts, cashflows and value-of-work-done (VOWD) for multiple project work packages.
• Lead subcontract tendering including bid evaluation, negotiation and contract award.
• Negotiate NEC4 terms confidently to secure strong commercial outcomes and manage contract scope.
• Act as an escalation point for high-risk commercial issues, supporting governance and ensuring project delivery remains compliant and controlled.
