Job summary

Willerby Ltd in Hull is seeking a confident Category Buyer to join our Procurement team. You will drive total cost of acquisition and develop commodity strategies across multiple supply chains, contributing to lean manufacturing and ongoing cost reductions.

Ideally you are CIPS qualified or working towards it, with experience in manufacturing or engineering, and a proven ability to manage supplier audits, negotiate effectively, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver improvements.

Qualifications

• CIPS qualified or working towards.
• Experience in Manufacturing or Engineering environment.
• Previous procurement experience.
• Experience of lean manufacturing techniques.
• Ability to undertake effective supplier audits and reviews.
• Understanding of key financial accounting information.
• Demonstrable influencing and negotiating skills.
• Commercial awareness.
• Good level of IT skills and experience of MRP systems and processes.

Responsibilities

• Drive total cost of acquisition and achieve year-on-year cost reductions.
• Develop and implement top level commodity strategies.
• Collaborate with current and new supply chains on key strategic projects.
• Source and approve new suppliers.
• Work with Willerby’s Supplier Quality Team on new products.
• Work with supply partners to achieve Lean Manufacturing.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive improvements.
• Conduct supplier and commodity risk assessments and contingency plans.
• Assist in resolving supply chain problems.
