Job summary

Jackie Kerr Recruitment - Engineering and Manufacturing is seeking a Strategic Buyer to manage supplier relationships and drive performance across the supplier base. The role focuses on developing partnerships, negotiating long-term agreements, and providing forecasts to suppliers.

You will support the technical buyer, help place POs during absences, and work with the MD to renew contracts. The role emphasizes QMS/AS9100 compliance and carbon reduction initiatives.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in manufacturing environment.
• Familiar with Long-Term Agreement (LTA) terms.
• Strong buying experience and supplier negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop supplier relationships and partnerships with key suppliers.
• Measure and drive supplier performance improvements with support from quality.
• Agree long-term solutions with suppliers, including LTAs, with director approval.
• Provide long-term forecast information to suppliers.
• Support the technical buyer and place POs to cover absence.
• Collaborate with MD to renew contract or LTA terms with key suppliers.
• Conduct supplier performance review meetings, internally and with suppliers.
• Periodically risk-analyse key suppliers and drive improvement actions.
• Maintain the approved supplier list (ASL) and NDAs.
• Work with supply chain to measure and reduce carbon emissions (scope 3).
• Contribute to the company carbon reduction program.
• Flow down ethics and compliance to supply chain.
