Job summary

Bowmill Engineering Ltd is seeking a Strategic Buyer to join the team in 2027. The role focuses on developing relationships with key suppliers, measuring performance, and negotiating LTAs to reduce spend and risk. You will support the technical buyer during absences and help drive Bowmill's carbon reduction initiatives.

• Previous experience in a similar strategic buyer role is essential.
• Experience in Aerospace or Defence preferred.
• Knowledge of supplier contracts and LTAs advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and renew contract or LTA terms with identified key suppliers.
• Conduct supplier performance review meetings internally and with suppliers.
• Annually risk analyse all key suppliers and drive improvement actions.
• Update Bowmill's approved supplier list (ASL) as required.
• Maintain NDAs with all suppliers.
• Work with supply chain to measure and reduce carbon emissions in scope 3.
• Contribute to Bowmill's carbon reduction program.
• Flow down ethics and compliance to supply chain.
• Raise POs / RFQs to cover Technical Buyer absence.

Job description

Bowmill Poole are recruiting for a Strategic Buyer to join the team in 2027.

Purpose of the Role:

• Focus on developing supplier relationships and partnerships with key suppliers
• Measure and endeavour to improve performance across all suppliers (with support from quality department)
• Agree long term solutions with suppliers such as contacts and LTAs (subject to Director approval) with view to control or reduce overall supplier spend and risks
• Providing long term forecast information to suppliers
• Support the technical buyer as required (including placing purchase orders to cover absence)

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Working with the managing director to establish and renew contract or LTA terms with identified key suppliers.
• To conduct supplier performance review meetings internally and at suppliers
• To annually risk analyse all key suppliers and drive any improvement actions.
• To update Bowmill's approved supplier list (ASL) as required
• Maintain NDAs with all suppliers
• Work with supply chain to measure and reduce carbon emissions in scope 3
• Contribute to Bowmill's own carbon reduction program
• Flow down of ethics and compliance to supply chain
• Raise POs / RFQs to cover Technical Buyer absence

Previous experience in similar role is essential. Experience within the Aerospace or Defence industry is preferred.
