Job summary

The Job People Limited is seeking a Buyer based at our Willenhall site to join a focused buying team. Reporting to the Materials Manager, you will purchase goods, materials and services, balancing price, quality and delivery while supporting the overseas team in China and Malaysia and assisting NPI sourcing.

Working hours are 37 per week, 8:00–16:30 Monday to Thursday and 8:00–13:00 Friday. Salary is £30k–£34k with auto-enrolment pension, life cover, EAP, free parking and one day from home each

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' buying and negotiating experience in manufacturing.
• Sourcing knowledge of plastics, metals and electronics.
• Ability to build strong supplier and customer relationships.
• Strong commercial acumen and cost-saving focus.
• Excellent organisation and planning skills.
• Buying, purchasing and procurement experience.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
• Business experience or vocational/technical qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Purchase goods, materials and services meeting cost, quality and delivery targets.
• Ensure continuous supply and communicate supply risks.
• Manage purchasing for all customers including expediting and pushouts.
• Enable supplier evaluation, performance and improvement.
• Support quoting and pricing for new parts for NPI projects.
• Negotiate prices and terms to secure savings.
• Implement supply chain strategy between UK and overseas team.
• Drive initiatives to improve operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
