Job summary

CDDFT is seeking a Stores Person to support the Estates team at Darlington Memorial Hospital. You will manage Estates stock, process orders, receive deliveries, and keep accurate records to ensure materials are available for engineers and maintenance staff.

The role requires a proactive, customer-focused approach, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work in a busy healthcare setting. Knowledge of Cardea is advantageous and full driving licence is preferred.

TheEstates Department is looking to recruit an organised and motivated StoresPerson to support the effective delivery of maintenance services acrossDarlington Memorial Hospital. The postholder will be responsible for managingstock and non-stock items, maintaining accurate inventory records, receivingand checking deliveries, and ensuring materials are available to supportengineering and maintenance teams. Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-dayoperation of the Estates stores, maintaining stock levels, processing ordersthrough the Cardea system, receiving and checking deliveries, and ensuringmaterials are stored safely and securely. They will maintain documentationincluding delivery notes, service reports and COSHH records, supportcalibration and certification processes, undertake meter readings across thesite and assist the wider Estates team as required. The role involves regularcommunication with maintenance staff, contractors and customers to ensure anefficient and responsive service is delivered..

Job responsibilities

The Stores Person is responsible for the overall control,management and safeguarding of Estates stock and purchased goods. Keyresponsibilities include:

Maintainingaccurate stock control records and ensuring appropriate stock levels areavailable to support Estates operations.

Requisitioningstock and non-stock items using the Cardea system.

Receiving,checking and receipting deliveries, ensuring goods are free from damage andmatch purchase orders.

Safelystoring goods and maintaining appropriate controls for out-of-hours access.

Maintainingfiling systems for delivery notes, maintenance reports and other documentation.

Monitoringand controlling calibration certification and associated data records.

Supportingfilter delivery processes and carrying out meter readings across the hospitalsite.

Maintainingand updating the COSHH register.

Workingwith Estates engineers, craftspersons, contractors and service users to supporteffective service delivery.

Supportingthe wider Estates team as required and undertaking training where necessary.

Person Specification

Special Requirements

• Ability to work in adverse environments including plant rooms, ducts, restricted spaces and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to organise workload and work within sensitive healthcare environments. Team player with a customer-focused approach.
• Experience working within healthcare settings

Qualifications

• Current UK Driving Licence

Experience

• Good customer service and customer interaction experience
• Maintenance experience in hospitals or similar environments. Previous stock control and IT systems experience

Special Skills & Knowledge

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Effective communication skills with staff, customers and service users. Flexible and adaptable approach. Good awareness of Health & Safety requirements. Ability to provide and receive routine and technical information. Ability to advise non-technical users on safe use of equipment.
