Job summary

Gov Facilities Services Limited (GFSL) is seeking a Stores Operative for HMP Albany, Newport. The role is permanent, 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a salary of £29,863.44 per year.

Join a dedicated team supporting facilities maintenance in a Category B prison and help ensure a safe, secure environment for inmates and staff. You will work alongside skilled colleagues from various trades, contributing to efficient stock control, safety compliance, and smooth day-to-day operations within

Qualifications

• Fork Lift Truck Certificate is required.
• Level 2 qualification in English and Maths is required.
• Full driving licence preferably with D1 is required.
• HGV Licence is preferred.
• Up to date First Aid at Work Qualification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with stores operations at HMP Albany to ensure efficient stock management.
• Coordinate with maintenance trades and other staff to support safe, secure prison operations.
• Maintain accurate stock records and uphold safety and security standards.

Salary: £29,863.44 per annum

We are seeking a dedicated Stores Operative to join our team at HMP Albany, a Category B, adult male prison.

We are a Ministry of Justice business and provide critical and time-bound services to HMPPS, and are looking for a Stores Operative with a combination of:

• Fork Lift Truck Certificate
• Level 2 qualification in English and Maths
• Full driving license preferably with D1
• HGV Licence
• Up to date First Aid at Work Qualification
• Good Health & Safety knowledge.
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.

Future Plans.

GFSL has been notified by it's shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM Services will in future be delivered by the private sector. This means that following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
