Job summary

Gov Facilities Services Limited (GFSL) is recruiting a Stores Operative for HMP Winchester. The role covers 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a permanent contract and a salary of £33,506.34 per year (includes £3,500 location bonus).

The post requires forklift certification, relevant driving licenses, and first aid qualifications to ensure safe prison operations. You will work with plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, cleaners and administrators to maintain secure, efficient

• Fork Lift Truck Certificate.
• Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
• Full driving license preferably with D1.
• HGV Licence.
• Up to date First Aid at Work Qualification.
• Good Health & Safety knowledge.
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.

Responsibilities

• As a Stores Operative, you will join the Facilities Maintenance Team to support safe operation of HMP Winchester.
• Work alongside skilled trades and administrators to maintain stores and supply chains.

Location: HMP Winchester, Romsey Rd, Winchester. SO22 5DF

Salary: £33,506.34 per annum (includes £3500 per annum location bonus)

Contract: Permanent - 39hrs per week - Mon-Fri

We are seeking a dedicated Stores Operative to join our team at HMP Winchester, a Category B/C & male prison

Future Plans.

GFSL has been notified by it's shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM Services will in future be delivered by the private sector. This means that following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
