Job summary

Proactive Global is seeking a Stores Operative for their Cambridge facility, working Monday to Friday, 08:00am–16:00pm. The role focuses on maintaining accurate stores data, supporting production with component selection, and ensuring smooth stock control processes for a growing manufacturing operation.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in a manufacturing or engineering environment, IT-literate with experience in stock control systems, and pro-active with minimal supervision.

• Experienced Stores Operative in manufacturing/engineering environments.
• IT literate with experience using stock control systems such as SAGE.
• Pro-active, able to work with minimal supervision and ask questions when needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliability of Stores information system and train/guide team on data entry processes.
• Maintain stock control accuracy, keep information system up to date and reliable.
• Analyse stock reports, check discrepancies and adjust as needed for efficiency.
• Assist in selecting components/kits for production and processing spare parts orders.
• Support Senior Team Leader in safe systems of work and housekeeping in Stores/Yard.

Position: Stores Operative

Salary: £13.00ph - £15.00ph

Location: Cambridge

Hours: Monday to Friday 08:00am - 16:00pm

Proactive currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Stores Operative to begin work for a leading engineering company based in Cambridge. Working out of their new state of art facility, they design, manufacture, assemble, test and ship bespoke printing equipment.

Due to rapid company expansion and an ever growing order book, our client is hoping to recruit at least one additional Stores Operative to help ensure the quality and accuracy of the stores function is well maintained throughout this new and excited influx of work.

You will be responsible for:

• To take responsibility for the reliability of the Stores business information system, ensuring that the Stores Team are fully conversant with the required data entry process, providing training, support and guidance as appropriate.
• To ensure the Stores Team adhere to established stock control processes and procedures, keeping the information system up to date and reliable.
• To analyse stock reports, check validity, investigate and resolve any discrepancies, and make adjustments as required, making suggestions for greater efficiency and improvements as appropriate.
• To participate in the team's general activities in selecting components and kits for production, selecting spare parts orders and assisting Logistics colleagues in the shipment of goods out according to agreed Stores procedures.
• To support the Senior Team Leader in the upholding and undertaking of safe systems of work and good housekeeping in all Stores and Yard areas across the Inca site.

The ideal candidate will be:

• An experienced Stores Operative, ideally with experience working within a manufacturing, production, or engineering environment.
• IT literate, and ideally have experience working with stock control systems such as SAGE scanning, printing off picking lists, etc.
• A pro-active person, someone not afraid to ask questions and who does not require micro-managing.
