Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking an Inventory and Materials Manager for our Wimborne site. You will lead logistics, manage SAP-based stock accuracy, BOMs and routing, and ensure timely material availability for production and customer pickup.

This onsite role requires strong experience in SAP, MRP, and warehouse operations. You will oversee a team, manage daily stock, and drive continuous improvements in end-to-end processes while delivering accurate reports and maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience with SAP materials management and inventory control.
• Knowledge of BOM and Material Routing in SAP.
• Ability to plan and manage stores operations and stock.

Responsibilities

• Leads logistics activities for inbound/outbound material movement.
• Maintains Bills of Materials, Material Routing, and stock accuracy in SAP.
• Plans and organises stores department on a day-to-day basis.
• Manages Workday timekeeping and holiday chart coverage.
• Manages Wimborne stock locations including main storage and build lines.
• Updates SAP daily with all information.
• Ensures finished goods are ready for customer pickup.
• Conducts perpetual stock takes to CPS standards.
• Enters stock adjustments and issues in SAP.
• Maintains staff training matrix for procedures.
• Purchases consumables and non-stocked products via MRP or POs.
• Approves invoices and resolves disputed invoices.
• Manages annual stock take and reporting to accounts.
• Improves end-to-end processes and pulls value through the stream.
• Provides weekly/monthly inventory reports.
• Performs BOM and Material Routing audits and 5S.

Salary: £ 49,500 + Depending on Experience

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a new Inventory Manager, this role is integral to the business to ensure dealers and customers receive the right material in the right quantity at the right time.

What You Will Do

Job duties include direct leadership, or performance, of all logistics activities related to inbound and outbound material movement, shipping, receiving and inventory storage systems.

• Establishes and maintains practices to achieve Bills of Material, Material Routing and Stock accuracy in SAP.
• Manages the day-to-day planning and organising of the stores department.
• Manages timekeeping of all personnel by the Workday timecard system. Maintaining a holiday chart for all staff ensuring that all vacancies are evenly spread-out providing cover to all areas throughout the year.
• Managing the stock locations of all material used at the Wimborne facility, both in the main storage and build line areas.
• Ensuring all information is updated daily on to the SAP computer system.
• Ensuring that all finished goods product is readily available for customer collection.
• Implementing and managing perpetual stock takes to the laid-out CPS Inventory Record Accuracy and Inventory Dollar audit standards.
• Entering all stock adjustments and issues on to the SAP computer system.
• Managing a training matrix ensuring that all staff are correctly trained in corporate procedures and adequately trained to perform their day-to-day operations.
• Purchasing all consumable, stationery, toners, and other non-stocked products. Either using the material requirement plan (MRP) or the raising of ad-hoc purchase orders.
• Approval of invoices and contracts. Assist in resolving all griefed invoices.
• Manage the annual stock take and supply to accounts all relevant information.
• Pro-Actively Improving "end-to-end" processes in line with CPS activities and maximizing PULL in value stream both before and after the production process.
• Providing weekly and monthly reports for: Inventory Records, Inventory Dollar and Start Online performance
• Audits including Bill of Materials and Material Routing route cause analysis and maintaining 5s standard procedure.
• Responsible for the Health and Safety of all personnel within the department, together with assisting management in assessing and reporting hazards, or health risks
