Job summary

Compass Group UK & Ireland, Defence Academy, Swindon, is seeking a Store Person & Driver to support daily operations. You will receive, store and distribute stock across site, deliver to outlets, and help with stock checks and documentation.

You will hold a full UK driving licence, have experience in stores or logistics, and be able to work on a busy, secure site. Training in Food Hygiene and Health & Safety is available, and reliability is essential.

Qualifications

• Hold a full UK driving licence and be confident driving around a large site.
• Experience in stores, warehouse, logistics or stock control.
• Physically capable of lifting, moving and transporting stock safely.
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently with multiple teams.
• Willing to undertake Food Hygiene and Health & Safety training.

Responsibilities

• Receive, check and book in deliveries in line with site procedures.
• Store and rotate stock in line with food safety and stock control.
• Conduct regular stock checks and assist with monthly stock takes.
• Deliver food, beverages and retail products to outlets using company vehicles.
• Transport provisions to off-site locations within agreed timelines.

• Complete delivery records and stock documentation accurately.
• Support retail and catering teams by restocking outlets.
• Adhere to Defence site security, health & safety and food hygiene procedures.

Key Responsibilities

As a Store Person, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operation of our Defence contract, ensuring stock and supplies are received, stored and distributed efficiently across the site.

Key responsibilities include:

• Receiving, checking and booking in all deliveries to ensure accuracy and compliance with site procedures.
• Storing, rotating and maintaining stock in line with food safety and stock control processes.
• Conducting regular stock checks and assisting with monthly stock takes.
• Delivering food, beverages and retail products to various outlets across the Defence establishment using company vehicles.
• Transporting sandwiches, snacks and other catering provisions to off-site locations, including Corsham and Abbey Wood, within agreed timelines.
• Liaising with suppliers regarding shortages, discrepancies or damaged goods.
• Maintaining clean, organised and secure storage areas at all times.
• Completing delivery records and stock documentation accurately.
• Supporting retail and catering teams by ensuring outlets are stocked appropriately throughout the day.
• Adhering to all Defence site security, health & safety and food hygiene procedures.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

• Hold a full UK driving licence and be confident driving around a large operational site.
• Have previous experience in stores, warehouse, logistics, catering support or stock control environments.
• Be physically capable of lifting, moving and transporting stock safely.
• Possess strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Be reliable, punctual and able to work independently.
• Demonstrate a proactive approach and willingness to support multiple teams across the contract.
• Have good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and suppliers.
• Be comfortable working within a secure Defence environment and able to meet security clearance requirements where applicable.
• Hold, or be willing to undertake, Food Hygiene and Health & Safety training.
