Job summary

Home Bargains is seeking Store Team Members with a primary focus on cleaning to help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming store environment. In addition to cleaning, you may assist with customer service, tills, replenishment and deliveries as needed.

Full training will be provided; prior cleaning or fast-paced retail experience is beneficial but not essential. TJ Morris Limited operates Home Bargains across the UK and serves millions weekly.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning or retail is advantageous but not required.
• Strong customer-service mindset and ability to work with others.
• Willingness to learn and follow health & safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate cleaning equipment such as the Hako floor scrubbing machine following training and safety procedures.
• Clean and sanitise staff areas, toilets and communal spaces to high hygiene standards.
• Sweep, mop, dust and clean shop floors, shelves and displays.
• Identify and respond to spills and hazards to maintain a safe environment.
• Carry out additional Store Team Member duties as required (e.g., serving customers, tills, replenishment).
• Be available for shifts from early mornings to late evenings (e.g., 5am to 10pm).
• Support with deliveries and maintaining product displays.

Home Bargains is looking for dedicated individuals to join our team as Store Team Members with a primary focus on maintaining excellent cleaning and hygiene standards throughout the store. additional responsibilities in cleaning duties. as a Store Team Member - Cleaner, your main responsibilities will involve keeping our shop floor, staff facilities and other areas clean, safe and welcoming for customers and colleagues. Although this position is primarily focused on cleaning, you will be employed as a Store Team Member. This means you will also be expected to carry out other Store Team Member duties as and when required to support the needs of the business. These may include serving customers, operating tills, replenishing stock, working deliveries and helping maintain store standards., Cleaning & Store Standards

• Operate cleaning equipment, including the Hako floor scrubbing machine, following the appropriate training and health and safety procedures.
• Clean and sanitise staff areas, toilets, bathrooms and communal spaces, maintaining high standards of hygiene.
• Sweep, mop, dust and clean shop floors, shelving, displays and other areas as required.
• Identify and respond promptly to spills, hazards and cleanliness concerns to maintain a safe environment.
• Ensure cleaning equipment and materials are used and stored safely.
• Complete additional cleaning duties as required to maintain excellent store standards.

Supporting the Wider Store Team

• Welcome customers and assist with queries, providing friendly and helpful customer service.
• Support with replenishing stock, working deliveries and maintaining product displays.
• Assist with till operations and other shop floor activities when required.
• Work alongside colleagues to ensure the store runs smoothly, particularly during busy periods.
• Undertake the full range of Store Team Member duties as reasonably required to support the operational needs of the store.
• Be aged 18 or over, in line with the company's health and safety requirements for the cleaning duties and operation of machinery associated with this role, including the Hako floor scrubbing machine.
• Be reliable, punctual and take pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
• Be willing and able to undertake cleaning duties, including operating cleaning machinery following appropriate training.
• Be flexible and willing to support with other Store Team Member duties as and when required.
• Be available to work the shift patterns required by the store, which may include early starts from 5am or late finishes up to 10pm.
• Have a positive attitude and enjoy working as part of a team.
• Be polite, professional and committed to providing excellent customer service.

Previous cleaning experience or experience working in a fast-paced retail environment would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided.

+ £12.71 per hour (18-20), £13.00 per hour (21+) + 16 hours per week. Must be available to work between the hours of 5pm - 9pm
