Job summary

KAUAI in partnership with Virgin Active is seeking a Store Manager to lead a 40-hour-per-week operation in a busy store. You will drive exceptional customer experiences, manage labour, stock and costs, and ensure brand standards across the site.

You will recruit and develop a high performing team, maintain strict food safety and allergen compliance, and use data to improve service and profitability. A dynamic, customer-focused environment awaits.

Qualifications

• Experience managing a food service, hospitality or retail operation.
• Proven experience leading, developing and motivating high performing teams.
• Strong commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, labour, stock control, waste and profitability.
• Food Safety Level 3 and Food Allergy & Intolerance Training.
• Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene and allergen compliance.
• Strong organisational, planning and problem solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Confident using operational systems and performance data to drive decision making and continuous improvement.
• Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Virgin Active management to deliver a seamless experience across the shared site.
• Lead by example with a visible presence in store and supporting shifts as needed.

In this role, you will play a part in being responsible for leading the overall performance of the store, ensuring operational excellence, commercial success and exceptional customer experiences. Working closely with the UK General Manager and Virgin Active club teams, you will lead, develop and inspire your team while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, compliance and brand delivery.

The Role

• Lead the day to day operation of the store, ensuring exceptional customer service, operational excellence and full compliance with KAUAI brand standards.
• Take ownership of the store’s commercial performance, managing sales, labour, stock, waste and controllable costs to deliver profitable results.
• Recruit, coach and develop a high performing team, creating a positive, inclusive culture that encourages accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Manage rotas, payroll, recruitment and workforce planning to ensure the store is resourced effectively while controlling labour costs.
• Champion the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and allergen compliance, ensuring all legal and company procedures are consistently followed.
• Oversee stock ordering, inventory management, supplier relationships and waste controls to maximise efficiency and profitability.
• Ensure the store is presented to the highest standards, creating a welcoming environment for customers and maintaining KAUAI brand standards at all times.
• Monitor store performance, customer feedback and operational metrics, identifying opportunities to improve service, efficiency and commercial performance.
• Work collaboratively with Virgin Active management to deliver a seamless experience for members and customers across the shared site.
• Lead by example, maintaining a visible presence in store and supporting operational shifts whenever required.

Who We’re Looking For

• Previous experience managing a food service, hospitality or retail operation.
• Proven experience leading, developing and motivating high performing teams.
• Strong commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, labour, stock control, waste and profitability.
