Job summary

Staffline, in partnership with Tesco, is seeking a Store Detective for the Broadstairs area. This mobile security role requires you to work across Tesco sites, providing covert protection for staff and customers while maintaining a professional presence in uniform.

The role demands an SIA licence, prior security experience, and the ability to travel between sites. Strong communication and reporting skills are essential to support loss prevention and safe, lawful interventions.

Qualifications

• SIA licence and security experience required.
• 3 years Retail Security Experience with loss prevention knowledge.
• Clear understanding of ASCONE to ensure stops are legal and safe.
• Willingness to travel between Tesco sites in the local area.
• Ability to spot tells and suspicious behaviour and maintain high attention to detail.
• Mobile role requiring multi-site travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide covert security to protect premises and staff.
• Spot suspicious behaviour and potential theft and report incidents.
• Safely detain shoplifters and de-escalate conflicts.
• Follow company loss prevention policies and procedures.
• Observe and report incidents using the client’s reporting systems.
• Travel between Tesco sites within the local area as required.
• Maintain a clean and professional security base and uniform on site.

Position: Store Detective

Location: Broadstairs

Pay Rate: £17.00 per hour

Hours: Various

Shifts: Various

SG / DS SIA licence required.

Previous Store Detective experience / 3 years Retail Security Experience plus strong understanding of retail loss prevention required.

Your Time at Work

As a Store Detective you will be responsible for:

• To provide a covert security, to contribute to the safety and security of the client's premises and staff. Having the ability to be 'invisible' and blend in is crucial.
• You must have a clear understanding of ASCONE to unsure any and all stop are legal and safe.
• You must have a high attention to detail to spot "tells" and suspicious behavior that others might miss.
• Multi-Site Travel: This is a mobile role. Candidates must be willing and able to travel between various Tesco sites within the local area.
• Apprehension & Conflict Management: Ability to safely detain shoplifters and de-escalate volatile situations.
• To carry out Company Policy on loss prevention and ensure the safety of staff and visitors
• To lawfully deter potential troublemakers on site
• To observe and report incidents using the correct reporting systems
• To carry out all duties assigned by the client or manager to whom you are responsible
• To ensure site knowledge is kept up to date and developments at local level are identified
• To understand and implement any Fire and Safety evacuation procedures
• To assist, if required by the Client, with staff and contractor searches
• To ensure that the Security base is always maintained in a clean and tidy condition
• To conduct yourself, at all times, in a manner which will bring credit to yourself and the Company, ensuring full uniform is worn and SIA licence is clearly displayed
