Job summary

Historic Environment Scotland is seeking a Modern Apprentice at Stirling Castle. The role offers a starting salary of £27,740 per year with a fixed-term, 2-year contract and 35-hour weeks, including weekend work. You will rotate through guides, events, and other teams, while working toward a SCQF Level 6 Diploma in Cultural Venue Operations.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills.
• Desire to work in a fast-paced visitor environment.
• Experience of working as part of a team to achieve a common goal.
• A passion for working in a busy Retail environment.
• An interest in Scottish History.

Responsibilities

• Spend a month in the guiding team to learn the castle history, then rotate through teams for three months each.
• Contribute to events and customer-facing activities.
• Complete coursework toward the Diploma in Cultural Venue Operations (SCQF Level 6).
• Continue gaining valuable work experience in the castle during the fixed term.
• Support for the assessment process and progression with Museums/Galleries Scotland.
