Job summary

A UK healthcare provider located in Chelmsford is looking for a Sterile Services Technician. This role includes washing, inspecting, packing, and sterilising surgical instruments to ensure high-quality decontamination services. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated and meticulous with great attention to detail. Although experience in a similar environment is an advantage, it is not essential. Full training will be provided in a supportive environment, with shifts scheduled as needed including nights and weekends.

Sterile Services Technician – Overview

Mid Essex Sterile Supplies Department is a friendly and fast‑paced unit supplying the Trust Theatre complex and other areas with sterile packs and instruments. An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated and proactive individuals to join the team who are methodical and meticulous to detail, to wash, inspect, pack and sterilise surgical instruments ensuring the best decontamination service for our customers and patients.

Responsibilities
  • Wash, inspect, pack and sterilise surgical instruments following standard decontamination procedures.
  • Maintain high quality standards and assist colleagues to deliver safe patient care.
Work Hours
  • Open 24 hours Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:00; Saturday 08:00 to 16:00; Sunday and Bank Holidays 08:00 to 16:00.
  • Work on a rota basis with shifts between the above hours, including Bank Holidays, Weekends and night shifts. Hours may change to meet Trust needs.
Requirements
  • Demonstrate the Trust values and responsibilities of the job description and person specification.
  • Experience is an advantage but not essential.
  • Follow processes and instruction while being self‑motivated and showing initiative.
