Qualifications

  • Basic end user IT skills to operate track and traceability IT system.
  • Preferred: TVQ or NVQ Level 2 in Decontamination or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing sterile consumables by decontamination, inspection, assembly, and packing.
  • Operating and monitoring machines like washer/disinfectors and sterilizers.
  • Recording and logging repairs and missing instruments on the tracking system.

We are currently recruiting for a Sterile Services Technician vacancy. This is an excellent opportunity to join the business at an entry-level and receive world-class training to get you on to a defined career pathway.

TRAINING AND WORKING PATTERN

12 weeks training, the first few weeks you will work on Monday-Friday at 9:00-17:00. Thereafter, training will continue during your regular shift hours which are Monday to Friday 22:00 to 06:00. Additionally, overtime work required every third Sunday , from 08:00 to 16:00.

What You Will Do

  • Ensuring the effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, linen, instruments, and equipment) by the process of decontamination, inspection assembly and packing within predefined quality standards.
  • Rigorously checking, washing, laying up and packing sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards.
  • Safely operating and monitoring machines and equipment (washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic and sterilisers) effectively.
  • Ensuring that repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak).
  • Ensuring that repaired instruments or equipment are returned to stock or the appropriate coded sets or the Trust’s appointed person.

Access to a Level 2 Healthcare Science Assistant Apprenticeship! This is a 12-15 month fully funded programme studying good scientific practice for the Healthcare profession! It is universally applicable outside of STERIS! Completed on the job, you are given 20% of your working hours to study towards the qualification. Further apprenticeships are available throughout the course of your career!

Education Degree

Required Experience

  • Educated to a good general standard with demonstrable verbal and numerical abilities.

Preferred Experience

  • TVQ or NVQ Level 2 in Decontamination or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience in Sterile Services and/or health related products.
