Job description

Join our dedicated Sterile Services team at Practice Plus Group and play a vital role in ensuring patient safety and excellent clinical outcomes. As our Sterile Services Technician you will be supporting the provision of a safe and effective decontamination and sterile supplies service to departments across the hospital. Every instrument you prepare will contribute to delivering the highest quality care for our patients. This is a full‑time role, working 37.5 hours a week. The role requires you to have Hepatitis B and TB vaccinations; if there is no evidence of immunisation we will put successful applicants through a course.

What you’ll be doing
  • Cleaning, checking, assembling, packing, sterilising, and distributing medical devices in line with strict infection control and safety protocols.
  • Ensuring all instruments are fit for purpose prior to patient use.
  • Monitoring sterilisation and washer‑disinfector equipment, reporting any malfunctions promptly.
  • Performing daily validation tests and keeping accurate traceability records.
  • Carrying out quality checks for cleanliness and completeness before distribution.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across clinical departments.
  • Using PPE at all times and maintaining a safe, clean working environment.
  • Supporting the orientation and training of new staff when required.
What we’ll look for in you

With your experience working as a technician in a sterile services department or within a healthcare setting, you will also have

  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, prioritise tasks under pressure, and adapt to change effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to personal development and high standards of patient safety.
  • Hepatitis B and TB vaccination or willingness to get them – this is a requirement for the role.
  • IDSc Membership, NVQ Level 3 in Decontamination or TVQ 1&2 in Decontamination – desirable.
