Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust’s Broomfield Hospital Sterile Supplies Department is seeking motivated individuals to join a fast-paced team. You will wash, inspect, pack and sterilise surgical instruments, ensuring high-quality decontamination for theatre and clinical areas.

The role is full-time (37.5 hours per week) with an internal rota across day, evening, and night shifts. Salary is £25,272 per annum with pro rata for part-time, and visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Basic literacy and numeracy skills required (e.g., GCSEs or equivalent).
• Good interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Capable of lifting and moving trays and equipment.
• Experience of working in a Sterile Services Department (SSD) or Hospital is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the provision of high-quality sterile packs for the Trust’s Theatre complex and clinical areas.

Main duties of the job

The Sterile Services Department based at Broomfield Hospital is open 24 hours (Monday to Friday) and 8:00am to 4:00pm on a Saturday,
Sunday and Bank Holidays.

You will be required to work on a rota basis with shifts between
the above hours (Monday to Friday), Bank Holidays and Weekends and night shifts. These hours are subject to change to meet the needs of the Trust.

You are required to be able to demonstrate the Trust values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification. Experience is an advantage however this is not essential. You must be able to follow processes and instruction while being self-motivated and showing initiative.
