Job summary

Cheshire East Council is recruiting a Step-Forward Foster Carer who will welcome a child or siblings into a supportive home, offering stability and guidance during a pivotal time.

You will be supported with specialist training, supervision from social workers and therapists, and access to peer networks and a dedicated local fostering team.

This role forms part of the regional Foster4 recruitment and requires background checks, assessment and panel approval.

Qualifications

• Be aged 21 or over (no upper age limit)
• Right to Work in the United Kingdom
• Ability to provide full-time care for a child or children
• Spare bedroom(s) for fostering
• Experience supporting children, young people, or adults with complex needs or challenging behaviours (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Full-time care for a child or sibling group moving from residential care
• Provide stability, routine, and reassurance within a nurturing home
• Support the child’s emotional, behavioural, and social development
• Work closely with social workers, therapists and other professionals
• Keep clear records and provide therapeutic, relationship-based care
• Help children maintain family relationships through Family Time
