Job summary

Cheshire East Council is seeking a Step-Forward Foster Carer to provide a stable, nurturing home for a child or sibling group leaving residential care. You will offer routine, emotional and social support while working closely with social workers and therapists.

The role emphasizes family connections, trauma-informed care, and continuous guidance throughout placement, with specialist training and 24/7 wraparound support.

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ with no upper age limit.
• Must have legal right to work in the United Kingdom.
• Must be able to provide full-time care for a child or children.
• Must have a spare bedroom suitable for fostering.
• Experience supporting children, young people, or adults with complex needs is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide full-time care for a child or sibling group moving from residential care.
• Offer stability, routine, and reassurance within a nurturing home.
• Support emotional, behavioural, and social development.
• Collaborate with social workers, therapists and other professionals.
• Keep clear records and provide therapeutic, relationship-based care.
• Support family connections through Family Time.
