Job summary

The University of Sheffield is seeking a Research Assistant (Stem Cell Biology) to join a group developing a cell therapy for Hirschsprung disease. You will culture human pluripotent stem cells, differentiate lines, prepare samples and perform analysis with qPCR, immunostaining and microscopy.

You will also help with data processing, manuscript preparation and lab administration. Applicants should have a BSc or MSc in a relevant biology field and demonstrable experience with the listed

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc (or equivalent) in a relevant biological discipline such as Stem Cell/Developmental Biology.
• Experience with cell (ideally hPSC) culture, RNA isolation, qPCR, immunostaining, fluorescence/confocal microscopy and flow cytometry.
• Strong IT skills and ability to work with laboratory software; excellent organisation and planning.

Responsibilities

• Routinely culture, differentiate and harvest hPSC lines and related samples.
• Analyse samples using immunocytochemistry, flow cytometry and qPCR.
• Assist data analysis and present findings; contribute to manuscript writing.
• Support lab management, equipment maintenance and reagent purchasing.
• Coordinate tasks and deadlines with the PI and colleagues.
