Job summary

The University of Sheffield is seeking a Research Assistant to support routine human pluripotent stem cell culture, differentiation and analysis within the Tsakiridis Lab. You will manage sample prep, data analysis and general lab duties to support a multi-year MRC DPFS project on cell therapy development.

Applicants should hold a BSc/MSc in Stem Cell/Developmental Biology with hands-on experience in qPCR, immunostaining, flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy, plus strong IT and

Qualifications

  • BSc or MSc in a relevant biological discipline such as Stem Cell/Developmental Biology.
  • Experience with cell (ideally hPSC) culture, RNA isolation and qPCR.
  • Immunostaining, fluorescence/confocal microscopy and flow cytometry experience.
  • Strong IT skills and knowledge of laboratory software; good organisation and planning.
  • Ability to prioritise and plan workload to deadlines, with attention to detail.
  • Experience in qPCR, immunostaining, flow cytometry and fluorescence/confocal microscopy.

Responsibilities

  • Routinely culture, differentiate and harvest hPSC lines on weekdays and weekends.
  • Analyse samples by immunocytochemistry, flow cytometry and qPCR.
  • Assist in data analysis and interpretation; record results accurately.
  • Support lab management tasks: stock, reagents, equipment upkeep.
  • Contribute to manuscript writing and dissemination of research findings.
  • Coordinate with PI and staff to plan future work and timelines.
  • Help ensure safety training and regulatory compliance in the lab.
