Job Summary
The Assistant Sales Manager is a member of the Stellantis Fleet Sales Team and will report to the Stellantis Fleet Sales Manager. The Assistant Sales Manager role is to help achieve sales and financial targets by the effective development of the Sales Department's plans and budgets, in accordance with the criteria set out by the brand to drive performance and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing the Sales Team, Sales Administrators and Fleet Support Assistants to ensure they meet their set goals and objectives and maintain key relationships with customers, broker partners, lease companies and manufacturers.
- Deputise in the absence of the Stellantis Fleet Sales Manager, ensuring that the department continues to operate as needed.
- Have a full understanding of the day‑to‑day operation and how the different members of the team contribute to department running.
- Be able to submit forecasts for volume and profit for each brand and drive the team members to deliver the best result possible.
- Understand, complete and return accounts reports including VSL debtor lists, manufacturer bonus reconciliations and deferred payment files.
- Assist in relationships with key broker partners, handle pricing batch deals, stock supply, ordering, rejections and ongoing issues across all brands represented.
- Help with incoming issues from key partners, support vehicle preparation at PDI, and relay necessary information to manufacturers for ongoing support.
- Co‑operate with the marketing team and local business specialist to ensure programme requirements are met for maximum bonus earnings.
- Oversee transfer of product knowledge to the sales team to ensure everyone is up‑to‑date on product/brand and has received relevant training.
- Contribute to developing and achieving a department profit plan covering business plans, marketing and advertising budgets, operating expenses, capital budgets and sales forecast assessments.
- Ensure enquiries are handled effectively following the correct sales process and that all subsequent transactions are recorded correctly (insurance, mechanical protection, commission).
- Follow the 'Treating Customer Fairly' process to comply with FCA guidelines.
- Help manage stock (new and used vehicles) and minimise stocking interest charges by focusing on overage stock sales.
- Maintain accurate customer records in line with GDPR.
- Ensure all used light commercial vehicles are presented correctly on the forecourt.
- Authorize all repair and preparatory work on sales.
- Manage dealership off‑site presentation through marketing activities to ensure brand conformity.
Skills & Competencies
- Technical knowledge of the retail motor industry.
- Numerate and articulate.
- In‑depth knowledge of financial systems such as Connect Online, TCF SAF and manufacturer systems.
- A full driving licence.
