Job summary

Jark Plc in Leeds is seeking an experienced Steel Loader/Yard Operative to join its outdoor operations. You will be responsible for loading and unloading deliveries, managing material receipt and dispatch, and organising stock to meet production needs.

The role requires careful attention to safety, regular manual handling, and the operation of plant machinery such as overhead cranes and forklifts in a busy yard environment. Full training will be provided to successful candidates.

Qualifications

• Experience with steel and a background of heavy machinery and plant are desirable but not essential.
• Full training will be given, but preferred qualifications would consist of Overhead Crane, Forklift Truck, Side Loader, and loading experience.
• Basic understanding of steel processing, beams, plates, flats and angles.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the safe and efficient loading and unloading of deliveries, whilst maintaining a high standard of safety at all times.
• Managing the receipt and dispatch of materials, including verification of delivery documents and organising products in accordance with operational requirements.
• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety are essential, as the role involves regular manual handing and the operation of plant machinery in a busy outdoor environment.
• Loading and unloading lorries using Overhead Crane, Forklift, or Side Loader.
• Picking steel sections and plates for machines.
• Read and understand delivery and order notes.
• Loading, unloading, and stacking or steel onto Shotblast Machines.
• Adhere to onsite Health and Safety Regulations.
