Your New Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent STE06 Civil Engineer to join our CEFA account in the Southern region of England.

Amey has worked continuously with Network Rail delivering aspects of the CEFA contracts since 2009, taking responsibility for the asset management and examination of different assets during this time.

Amey undertakes Structural Examinations, Structural Assessments, Operational Property Inspections, Earthworks Examinations, Technical Monitoring and provides Rapid Response services for Network Rail across the UK. The Civil Examination Framework Agreement (CEFA) team includes approximately 200 Structures Examiners assessing over 70,000 structures nationwide.

As a STE06 Civil Engineer, you will perform all duties within the CEFA contract, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and adoption of new technology to maintain compliance with standards. All tasks must be completed safely and in accordance with client requirements.

The standard working hours are 37.5 hours per week, with some weekend and night shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Compile and submit condition reports via the structures database system for review by the Examining Engineers team. Reports will need to be verified by a mentoring Examiner.
  • Complete required railway, safety, and technical training as outlined in the training agreement.
  • Use handheld technology or other means to assess structural conditions within the structures database or other approved systems within set deadlines.
  • Perform special examinations and assist with monitoring schemes for sensitive structures as directed.
  • Undertake reconnaissance visits.
  • Assist in providing safety-critical site support duties (COSS, ES SWL1 and 2).
Candidate Requirements
  • STE06 qualification – essential.
  • Degree or equivalent in Engineering/Construction preferred.
  • IRATA qualification – preferable.
  • COSS/IWA competencies – preferable.
  • Flexible regarding work location.
  • Ability to plan and meet deadlines.
Additional Essential Requirements
  • Full driving license.
  • Pass initial and random drug and alcohol tests.
  • Strong literacy and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.
