UCL's Financial Accounting team is pivotal in managing the university's financial accounts and providing essential financial services and advice across the institution.
About the role
In the newly created job of Statutory Accountant, you'll play a key part in UCL's financial accounts team and ongoing commitment to maintaining accurate financial records.
You'll prepare month-end journals, work on the year-end financial statements, and support the audit process. You'll ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations, maintain financial controls, and complete statutory and regulatory returns.

About you
To do the job of Statutory Accountant, you'll be a qualified or near-qualified accountant (actively studying if part qualified), with solid experience in financial accounting, particularly of working with auditors in an internal capacity or working in an audit firm.
You should be detail-oriented, with a good understanding of accounting standards (FRS 102 and/or IFRS), and a proactive approach to managing financial records. You'll have strong financial operations experience, including financial controls, reconciliations and assisting with statutory reporting.
You'll be a good communicator and team player, able to work effectively as part of a team and explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders. You'll be organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines, and have the 'can-do' attitude needed to work in a high performing team, and to innovate and problem solve.
Experience in the higher education sector or another large, complex organisation would be advantageous but is not essential. We welcome candidates who are eager to grow their expertise and contribute to UCL's financial success.
