Coventry University invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Statistical Physics within the Centre for Fluid and Complex Systems. You will commission and deliver impactful research, collaborate widely, and contribute to teaching across mathematics, physics, data science courses.

The role focuses on many-body quantum dynamics, open quantum systems, stochastic processes, and strong correlations, with opportunities to secure external funding and supervise researchers.

Qualifications

• A PhD in physics, mathematics, or a closely related relevant subject.
• International excellence evidenced by publications, awards and attracting funding commensurate with career stage.
• Research background and activity should fall within Statistical Physics group: many-body quantum dynamics, open quantum systems, stochastic processes, strong correlations.
• Within the centre, lead research within REF UoA 10 mathematics and attract funding to grow the centre.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver impactful research within Statistical Physics group.
• Spend 60% of time on research and 40% on teaching.
• Promote and disseminate research outputs in field media and conferences.
• Seek external funding and supervise doctoral and master’s students.
