Oritain is seeking a Statistical Data Scientist to build statistical models and ML methods underpinning our origin-verification science, and deploy them within live products and workflows.

You will partner with scientists, engineers, product teams and business stakeholders to turn complex data into practical solutions that solve real customer problems. This role sits in a fast-growing business where ownership is encouraged, ideas are welcomed, and your work can move the business forward.

Qualifications

• A degree in Statistics, Mathematics, ML, Data Science (postgraduate preferred).
• 2+ years of commercial experience applying statistical modelling and ML.
• Strong foundation in probability, statistics, linear algebra and calculus.
• Experience with large datasets, data wrangling and cleaning.
• Proficient in Python and R; cloud deployment (Azure advantageous).
• Knowledge of MLOps, APIs, databases, and Unix tools.
• Clear communication of complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Curious approach with strong problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

• Collect, clean and process data from diverse sources.
• Build statistical models and ML algorithms to inform decisions.
• Develop and deploy predictive models for operational and commercial challenges.
• Create visualisations, dashboards and analytical tools for insights.
• Embed analytical solutions into products and workflows with cross-functional teams.
• Evaluate modelling approaches with rigorous quantitative methods.
