Job summary

AstraZeneca invites applications for a 12‑month University Industrial Placement Student in Statistics at the Macclesfield campus. The role offers training in R and SAS, with exposure to the drug development process and real project work.

You will join a supportive international statistics team, gaining experience in data handling, analysis and interpretation, while developing transferable skills and presenting work within AZ.

Qualifications

• Currently undertaking an undergraduate or integrated master's degree in Maths or Statistics.
• Opportunity to spend 1 year in industry starting September 2027.
• Strong planning and organisation skills.
• Ability to see opportunities, learn and apply learning to drive innovation.
• Good collaboration and teamworking skills.
• Confident communicating with a wide range of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Work in the statistics team on real drug development projects.
• Receive on-the-job training and mentor support from a supervisor.
• Develop R/SAS programming skills and data handling experience.
• Contribute to study design input and interpretation of analyses.
• Engage in internal statistical/programming forums.
