An opportunity has arisen to work within Accounts Flight at RAF Leeming, the Station Cashier role is responsible for the delivery of a cash/bank accounting facility for public & non-public accounts for RAF Leeming.

Experience in cash handling would be desirable but is not essential as training will be provided.

The position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Operate an appropriate cash accounting service for Public Funds and the Service Funds Accounting Service (SFAS), utilising Cash Office Management (COM) and SAGE software systems.
  • Maintain the Public and Non-Public daily cashbooks and reconcile the cash in hand for Public and SFAS at the end of each operating day.
  • Ensure the safe custody of the Station Cashiers’ key & combinations.
  • Maintain accurate records for the monitoring of any cash paying in programmes and bring to the attention of OC Accounts the lack of regular payments of takings, particularly in relation to the alcohol bars on the unit.
  • Provide a routine cash service for station personnel, including the processing of electronic/ cash payments from Service Funds cash/ bank as authorised by nominated fund officials.
  • Ensure a receipt is issued for all monies received.
  • Operate in accordance with the Station Cash Security Plan and current policy when conducting bank runs to deposit/ withdraw cash. Ensuring the cash holding limits, set by the Station Commander, are not exceeded.
  • Liaise with Banking FMPA on all cash matters including the ordering of cash and foreign currency.
  • Issue to Service Personnel and reconcile Exercise and Operational Imprest (EOI), Cash In Lieu of Rations (CILOR) and Special Messing Allowance (SMA) applications.
  • Issue TORs to Accountable Document Holders and maintain an accurate and current register. You are to ensure the appropriate maintenance and security of all financial records in accordance with governance requirements.
  • Order all accountable documents and submit a monthly railcard return.
  • Ensure all routine Management Checks are completed in accordance with CGI 19 and AP3223.

Person specification

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who has the ability to work independently & collaboratively to ensure a successful delivery of tasks.

Whilst experience in cash handling would be desirable it’s not essential as training will be provided.
